Sustainability

With more than 175 years of craftsmanship and knowledge in fabric production and fabric design, we are specialists in designing aesthetic and long-lasting fabrics. We prioritize the well-being of both people and the environment in our products and production, and we document our efforts.

Guided by this sense of responsibility and transparency, we are dedicated to circular economy, to promoting healthy indoor spaces, and to treating people and the environment with respect every single step of the way – from the selection of raw materials to the final fabric.

CSRD Report

This year, we publish our first Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)-compliant sustainability reporting, integrated into the 2024/25 Annual Report. The reporting provides a clear, data-driven overview of our sustainability performance. All reporting is developed in-house to ensure reliable data and a structured process.

Read our CSRD sustainability reporting – Integrated into the 2024/25 Annual Report – available from page 24.

Our Key Focus Areas

Below is an overview of the five central elements of our sustainability report, as documented in our 2024/25 CSRD reporting.

Our Key Focus Areas (Default H)

In 2024/25, we introduce sustainability reporting fully aligned with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
The reporting covers climate and energy, circularity and resources, water, own workforce and governance.
All reporting is prepared internally, ensuring strong subject-matter expertise, high data maturity and full documentation control, and giving customers and partners access to reliable, comparable and transparent sustainability information that supports decisions and documentation requirements.

Science-Based Climate Targets H2

We have been committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) since 2023 and have now set ambitious climate reduction goals for 2029/30, including:

  • 42% reduction in scope 1 and 2 emissions

  • 25% reduction in scope 3 emissions

We have been CO₂e-neutral* in scope 1 and 2 since 2018/19.

*This is achieved by purchasing guarantees of origin for electricity from renewable sources, as well as carbon credits to compensate for the use of fossil energy, such as heating. However, in the sustainability report, carbon credits are not deducted from the CO₂e emissions and will not be used to meet the established climate targets.

Circular Economy as a Strategic Priority

Circularity has been a long-standing priority at Gabriel and remains a central pillar of our sustainability work.

In 2024/25, we launched Cura Loop, a textile made from 100% textile-to-textile recycled material, reflecting our ongoing work to turn circular principles into practical product solutions.

Key circularity initiatives include:

  • Goal: Increasing the share of recycled materials by 25% by 2029/30

  • Improving recyclability and reducing waste in design and production processes

  • Strengthening product documentation through EPDs, certifications and lifecycle assessments

We began working with recycled materials in the mid-1990s and have continued to expand our circular approach ever since.

High Standards and Strong Documentation

We demonstrate responsibility and product quality through internationally recognised standards and environmental documentation:

  • 23 ISO certifications across the Gabriel Group (ISO 9001, Quality Management, & ISO 14001, Environmental Management)

  • Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) covering 16 textiles, developed in-house to ensure high data quality, transparency and strong product insight

  • 83% of the designs in the standard textile collection are marked with EU Ecolabel

  • 98% of the designs in the standard textile collection are certified according to OEKO-TEX®STANDARD 100 certification

Our Code of Conduct and global management system help ensure that we act responsibly and ethically across our operations.
